10 Queer Brands to Buy From This Holiday Season

* If some of these aren’t going to make it on your gift list, consider giving them a follow! Following the social media of small businesses is the free-est and best way to support.

GrrrlSpells - GRRRL Spells is a horror and occult inspired queer and feminist apparel & art brand, combining riot grrrl attitude with dark imagery and the gay agenda. Created by a talented tattoo artist and designer in Toronto, Ontario, En Tze is making waves with apparel, patches/pins/stickers and posters.  Instagram: @Grrrlspells

Brand|Pride - Ever want to buy branded or custom items in bulk? This LGBTQ+ owned branding business will give you the creative option for holiday gifts. Have someone call HR on you because you got your entire office a pen that says “Daddy” on it, or if you’re looking for some one off items, check out their Pride on Demand store- onesies, sweaters, the list goes on! Have every human in your life wearing positive and affirming goods. Twitter: @TeamBrandPride

Beyond Binary- Are you or a friend queer AF but refuse to wear colours? Don't worry - we've got you! Beyond Binary was created with minimal designs and palettes so your unique style can take the lead. Each piece is ethically produced within the U.S. with love and ready to be the latest addition to your wardrobe. Aside from apparel, Beyond Binary has some incredible prints and home goods. Instagram: @BeyondBinaryApparel

Sicko Stitching - Hand embroidered clothing by Emma. High quality, unique pieces for all body types. We love that inclusivity. The catchy phrases on clothes, ranging from “Queer Enough” (hell yeah!) to “Go to therapy” (that’s some solid advice), are saying the things you want to tell everyone who walks past you. This skirt is my personal fave and I’m mulling over who to buy it for - try to beat me to it ;) Instagram: @Sicko.Stitching

Rococo Kitsch - Rococo Kitsch began as a way for Alice to raise money for Black liberation organizations in the wake of the police murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Tony McDade among countless others. By making and selling earrings throughout June 2020, they leveraged their quarantine hobby to raise over $1400 for Minnesota Freedom Fund, Black Visions Collective, Chicago Community Bond Fund, and Brave Space Alliance. Not only would you be supporting a queer owned business, but supporting Black lives. Instagram: @Rococo.Kitsch

JunkMaille - Becky creates beautiful leather and chainmail items. Accessories, bags, journals, wallets, chokers and harnesses. If you’re looking for something in that realm but not on the website, Becky offers custom work as well; this website is all you could want and more. My personal fave item is the Transgender Pride wallet (hint hint to everyone shopping for me this year)- with every purchase profits go to the Kind Clinic in Austin, a queer focused clinic that helps with sexual wellness. Instagram: @JunkMaille

FatCatCeramics - Emma, a self-proclaimed “amateur” artist creates incredible ceramic works of art to add to your home (or office, or whatever!). I can tell you that gift giving season sometimes sucks, because I really want this vase for myself. Is it considered giving if you give it to yourself? Instagram: @Fatcatceramics

Cards by Gia - Custom hand painted holiday cards calling your name? Planning a pandemic wedding and want to send some announcements that the date is TBD post-vaccine? This queer and Black owned business is the place to shop! Gia creates beautiful floral prints, custom and based on request. Allowing Gia to help you say Happy Birthday, Thank You and Congratulations brings her joy. Instagram: @CardsbyGia

Revel and Riot is a non-profit; using their t-shirts as a canvas to promote equality, pride, visibility and justice. “The t-shirt is accessible, it is personal, it is interpreted differently than other mediums because there is a real person inside of it.” They offer tons of resources, attend Pride events, donate and do collaborations with other queer folks in the community. We love clothing that makes a statement! Instagram: @Revelandriot

QUILTBAG is a really cool company (whose namesake is actually an anagram of the LGBTQ+ acronym) that creates awesome pronoun pins. Originating in 2018, Edmonton Canada was blessed with an explicitly LGBTQ2S+ retail. Check these slick pronoun pins- 15% of the sales from each pin are directed towards an Indigenous land trust initiative such that LGBTQ+ and Two-Spirit Indigenous people can build and have access to communal living spaces, a cook shack, and spaces for ceremony. Normalize pronoun usage! Instagram: @TheQuiltbag
